The little ray of sunshine swimsuit....

Darling followers, how joyful was I at the opportunity to attend Circa Vintage's City Salon launch in Melbourne last Saturday ! Yummy cakes and tea, adorable dresses and atmosphere, and best of all beautiful friends...it was delightful ! But the highlight while I was there was purchasing something I have been hankering after for AGES......MY little ray of sunshine swimsuit !!

Two years ago I wore this swimsuit in a swimsuit parade at Wintersun's last hurrah on the Gold Coast (see clip below) and ever since I have wanted to own this sparkling little number.....

Sentiment as much as love really.....my marriage was on it's last legs when this parade occurred, and yet it was a total highlight for me to participate in it. The whole experience affirmed me as a woman, even despite my marriage situation and three young children. It took a ton of courage to wear 4 vintage swimsuits in front of hundreds of complete strangers AND friends, and yet, as I did it, I found it strangely liberating and exhilarating. To me this beautiful swimsuit represents not only the beauty of the 1960's from which it comes, but a significant experience in the history of my life and the journey of my soul towards growth and maturity. I will treasure it always ! And that, my dear readers, is one of the reasons I love clothing.........because as our lives progress, they carry with them the stories of our lives, our history, and our journey. Beautiful.
